Saturday April 4, 2015

D0 you have what it takes to be the 2015 AK Skimeister on April 4th, 2015?

Third Annual AK Skimeister Challenge is CONTINUOUS.  This race is happening!  We met with Alyeska Resort today and here is the plan for the race:

Nordic Mass Start at Day Lodge- Chair 3 road to Top Chair 7- Tramway- Return to Transition/ Staging Area.  Length of course is 3k.

Continuous into Alpine Leg- Athletes Ride Ted’s Express Chair 4, Race down LowerBowl/Waterfall GS Course to staging area

Continuous into Bike Leg- Course Route- Chair 3 to Chair 7 to Nordic 5 K loop. Back on Winter Creek Extension Trail with event finish line at Challenge Alaska building.  Length of course is 8-9k.

Race administrators Jeremy Anderson and Aaron Stiassny quoted on 3/11/15:

“The alpine leg is solid and we are just working out the fine details of the course. The fat bike conditions and trails are riding great right now and we have many course options for this leg. The Nordic leg has 2 backup plans to ensure that we have a quality leg. If we can ski the Girdwood Nordic 5k loop again we will. Our first backup Nordic plan will be setting a course that loops on the lower mountain of Alyeska Resort that runs from the day lodge to the hotel. We should have sufficient snow in early April on the resort (thanks for the man made snow) to make this a great 2nd option. The 3rd option is switching it to a running leg if we don’t have enough snow.”

Come on down and support youth ski racing with Alyeska Ski Club and Challenge Alaska for the day!
